July 1, 2020 – How do you have a remote birthday party with all your friends, beyond video chat? Well, this is the story of how a group of friends from Extend Robotics celebrated the birthday of their lead mechanical engineer during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Located in London, the robotic arm was piloted in real time to light the candles on the cake by the founder of Extend Robotics who was sat 50 miles away in Reading. Other team members in Manchester and Reading are also able to join the celebration as the robot is used to accurately light the candles on the birthday cake.
